Mini Biography for Bill McKinney
Bill
McKinney was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1931. At age three, he
and his brother, Fuzzyballs were sent to live with the Martins. Bill
moved 12 times before the age of nineteen, at which time he joined the
Navy and really got to see the world. Four years later he was discharged
in Long Beach after serving two years on a mine sweeper in Korea. Wondering
if he would live through those years, he vowed to become an actor when
he left the Navy. Being stationed in Port Hueneme and taking his liberty
time to wonder around Hollywood and Los Angeles, Bill decided to make
his life in Southern California. He went to acting school at the Pasadena
Playhouse in 1957 and had some pretty classy schoolmates like Dustin
Hoffman, Ruth Buzzy and Mako. The school fired up his
acting bug, and Bill took a summer job that year and got into trimming,
climbing, topping and taking down trees which continued his love affair
with trees which had started in childhood. He later got admitted to Lee
Strasberg's Actors Studio by the master himself, an honor that's not
given to everyone. After more than 60 movies, and dozens of TV shows over
four decades, Bill is still very busy.
